ROBUSTA-3A is registered to UNOOSA

As required under the Registration Convention of 1975, University of Montpellier has, on behalf of the CSUM, registered 60243U(24128J) object as its ROBUSTA3A satellite to United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) (the office in charge of maintaining the United Nations Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space).

To date approximately 88% of all hashtag#satellites, probes, landers, crewed spacecraft and space station flight elements launched into Earth orbit or beyond have been registered.

The primary benefit from the registration of space objects to the international community is to provide timely notice of what is happening in outer space, so that in case of a collision alert, the space objects owners/operators may be easily found and contacted to coordinate avoidance manoeuvers.

The Register is also an important transparency and confidence-building mechanism among space actors, as it identifies which State bears international responsibility and liability for each object.

UNOOSA publicly disseminates the information of the Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space via the UNOOSA website. Each space objet registration enhances the utility of the Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space. Registration Information Submission Form should be sent, as soon as practical, by hardcopy through Permanent Missions to UNOOSA and electronically to UNOOSA.
